In an interview with Doll Reader magazine, we had the privilege to learn some of the details about Helen Kish and how she goes about creating one of her dolls. Helen Kish is a trendsetter and has be creating dolls for almost 30 years. “I was totally unaware of anyone else (living) doing what I was doing. Even after I discovered that there were a few others like myself out there, images of the work of contemporaries were scarce and contact with them even more so,” she recalls. ” In the interview she goes on to state that often times people have commented that her dolls seem to have a resemblence of herself or someone she knows. “People have commented on this since the early days of my career. At first, I thought this penchant for familial likeness would diminish once my skills as a sculptor improved” Kish goes on to state. Helen Kish has a tremendous talent and her work will be remembered for a long time.
